116 - John Carpenter's Halloween (1978)
Remember earlier this year, when Julio was over the moon about the MCU and Alex struggled to care? Well, the tables have turned, as The Contrarians finally cover Alex’s favorite movie ever, John Carpenter’s original HALLOWEEN! But before they can reconcile their differences regarding this so-called classic, they have to give it the Contrarians Corner treatment: how bad is Carpenter’s version of a Sorkin “Walk & Talk”? How can Laurie spend an entire night watching horror movies, then constantly fall into horror genre tropes? And how ridiculous is it to see Michael Myers drive all around Haddonfield? It’s the second installment of our HADDONFIELD NIGHTS!

- Hans Rothgiesser, the man behind our logo, can be reached at @mildemonios on Twitter or you can email him at mildemonios@hotmail.com in case you ever need a logo (or comics) produced. And you can listen to him talk about Peruvian politics on his own podcast, NACION COMBI and Peruvian economics on his other podcast, MARGINAL. Aaaaand you can also check out all the stuff he’s written on his own website. Don’t know Spanish? He also did a podcast in English called LIVING IN PERU, about immigrants in - where else - Perú. Oh, and as if that wasn’t enough, he has a new collection of zombie short stories, ZOMOS ZOMBIES. Ask him about it!
Up next, we leave Michael Myers behind for a little while, as The Haddonfield Nights take a side trip along HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH! In the meantime, let us know how you liked John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN! Was it the longest 90 minutes ever? Do you think Loomis needed more to do? Is this really the best out of all the slashers?
